WMatch is a classic PC Magazine utility and still competes at the top our download charts. For those of you unfamiliar with the program, WMatch started out in 1989 as a DOS utility that allowed you to compare the contents of two directories and then copy and move files between them. Over the years it was converted to Windows and they added features like the ability to compare local directories against network ones, the option of file checking based on contents instead of date and size, and file type filtering.
The latest version of WMatch is a Webmaster's and IT professional's dream utility. There are many reasons for comparing or synchronizing the contents of two folders. Perhaps you have a network folder where producers drop their finalized html documents so that you can post them to your site all at once. With WMatch you can schedule that folder to be synchronized with your ftp site and only upload those files that have changed. Or maybe you're comparing two folders and discover that a couple of the documents you thought were the same are not. Well, with this latest version you can double-click on the files to view highlighted differences between them.
WMatch has become such a powerful tool, it's not just a nice utility to have, it's a must-have. This major upgrade adds the following features:
- FTP compare which enables you to compare a local or network directory to an FTP directory.
- A quick Synchronize which allows you to synch the files between two directories either via a bidirectional copy or from the source directory to the target. more
